Open Swim Policies (Updated 5/1/2022) 

The Peddie Aquatic Center complies with the NJ Department of Health Executive Directive No. 20-022 and has been inspected and approved by the Hightstown Borough Department of Health for compliance with this directive. In order to use the pool, each patron must be a registered member who has read & accepted the medical and liability waivers.

 

  • All swimmers should self-assess their health daily for any signs of illness. Do not come to the pool if you are experiencing any signs of illness. (i.e. congestion, fever, vomiting, diarrhea, pain, rash, cough, and headache, etc.) 
  • All registered members can drop in for swimming any time that open swim is available (check the monthly calendar!)
  • All swimmers must shower before entering the pool as required by the NJ Bathing Code. Do not apply lotions or sunscreens before entering our indoor pool!
  • Check in with the lifeguard on deck before entering the water
  • Always enter feet-first, use of the starting blocks is prohibited during open swim.
  • Open swim is reserved for those who are registered members of the Peddie Aquatic Center.
  • When sharing lanes please determine if you will circle swim (stay to the right) or split the lane before commencing your workout.

 

Freezing or Canceling memberships

All requests to freeze or cancel membership must be made in writing and sent via email to aquatics@peddie.org or set via the "Please Contact Us" field on the website. 

Any monthly or daily member can freeze their membership for up to three months per calendar year. Annual members may only freeze their account with supporting documentation from a physician, and also may only freeze for up to three months. 

Any account can be canceled at any time, we do not offer refunds for annual memberships canceled prior to their renewal date nor do we prorate refunds for monthly memberships canceled before the end of the month. 

 

Peddie Aquatic Center Locker Room Policies and Etiquette 

 

Men’s and Women’s locker rooms are provided for use by all patrons. For the respect and comfort of all members, children under the age of 8 must be accompanied by an adult while using the locker rooms. 

Parents are responsible for their children’s behavior while in the locker rooms. Please monitor them while they are using the locker rooms or ensure they are capable of following all the locker room rules. 

 

Families needing to accompany opposite-gender children, regardless of age, must use the all-gender bathrooms located in the entrance hallway outside the women’s locker room entrance

 

All patrons, regardless of age, are expected to adhere to the following guidelines: 

  1. No cell phone, camera, or video equipment is to be used in the locker rooms. 
  2. Cover up whenever possible. 
  3. Be quick in the showers and when changing, please do not take excessive time in the showers or locker room area. 
  4. Keep your eyes to yourself, and do not comment on other people. 
  5. Be respectful of others and don’t make uncomfortable conversations with others while showering or changing. 
  6. Keep the floor clean of clothes and gym/swim bags. Use a locker and lock to secure your belongings while using the pool. 
  7. Lockers are for day use, clear your belongings each night, items left behind may be removed by our cleaning service. 
  8. Do not overuse spray deodorant or perfume/cologne
  9. Do not rough house, fight or stand/jump off benches. 
  10. Locker rooms must be vacated when the pool is closed. Please plan accordingly to complete showering/changing to depart prior to pool closing time as listed on the monthly calendar. 

All adults utilizing the locker rooms while minors are present must adhere to USA Swimming's Minor Athlete Abuse Prevention Policy (MAAPP 2.0) 

  1. Undress 
    1. Adult Participants must not change clothes or behave in a manner that intentionally or recklessly exposes his or her breasts, buttocks, groin, or genitals to a Minor Athlete under any circumstance. An Adult Participant must not request a Minor Athlete to expose the Minor Athlete’s breasts, buttocks, groin, or genitals to the Adult Participant under any circumstance. Nothing in this section shall be construed to apply to areas of the body exposed while wearing swimwear that conforms to the current concept of the appropriate for the individual’s competition category.   
  2. Showers 
    1. Adult Participants must not shower with Minor Athletes unless: 
      1. The Adult Participant meets the Close-in-Age Exception; and/or 
      2. The shower is part of a pre-or post-activity rinse while wearing swimwear. 
    2. Parents/legal guardians may request in writing that their Minor Athlete(s) not change or shower with Adult Participants during In-Program Contact. USA Swimming must abide by such a request. 

 

The Peddie Aquatic Center is not responsible for personal property that has been lost, damaged, or stolen.
