SWIM SCHOOL POLICIES
(updated 09/01/2023
Peddie Reserves The Right To Change and Update Policies At Any Time
- Students and their parents/guardian should self-assess their health daily for any signs of illness. Do not come to the pool if you are experiencing any signs of illness. (i.e. congestion, fever, vomiting, diarrhea, pain, rash, cough, and headache, etc.)
- Students should enter the pool area through the respective locker rooms, or through the double glass doors at the shallow end of the pool. Street shoes are NOT permitted on the pool deck.
- All students must shower before entering the pool as required by the NJ Bathing Code. Do not apply lotions or sunscreens before entering our indoor pool!
- The parent/adult must remain in the building during the lesson, seated in the balcony seating area.
- Children participating in the parent/tot class who are not yet potty trained must wear a swim diaper and a tight-fitting plastic swim diaper cover.
- Please remain seated during the lesson and DO NOT call out to your child. This is very distracting to the students & the instructors.
- Students need to come to the pool ready to swim, in their bathing suit.
- Bathing suits must be worn. One-piece bathing suits for females, with no ties, no brief style bathing suits for males. Athletic clothes or regular clothing are not permitted. If a swimmer chooses to wear a swim shirt over a bathing suit it must be tight-fitting and designed for swimming. No undergarments may be worn under bathing suits.
- Children with hair at or below the chin will be required to wear a bathing cap. Caps are available for purchase at the swim office for $10.00.
- Locker room use is permitted for students that are independent in changing their clothes or have same-sex adults accompanying them. Parents of opposite-gender swimmers can use the all-gender bathrooms located in the girls’ locker room hallway. PLEASE FAMILIARIZE YOURSELF WITH OUR LOCKERROOM POLICIES HERE
- ANY requests for changes in class day/time/session/instructor/etc once you have registered will be charged a $25 change fee, which will be posted to your credit card on file.
- Peddie Staff may take photographs during lessons to be used for promotional and/or advertising purposes, however, the names of our students will not be published. If you do not wish your child to be photographed, please notify the Peddie Swim School in writing.
- All parking for lessons is in the Athletic Center parking lot which has 300+ spaces. Do not park in front of the building or along the circle. Handicapped spaces are available for those with valid handicapped tags only.
- PLEASE REMEMBER THAT YOUR CHILD AND THE INSTRUCTOR ARE DOING THEIR BEST. SOME CHILDREN LEARN AT A SLOWER RATE. THE MOST BENEFICIAL TIP FOR SWIMMING IS TO RELAX AND HAVE FUN. TRY TO GET THIS ACROSS TO YOUR CHILD EVERY TIME YOU COME FOR LESSONS!
- Please remember that we use the Peddie School's facility. Please respect the facility, its employees, and the students when you are here. Any vandalism or improper behavior will result in removal from the program.
- If you have a concern or question about the lesson program or an instructor, please address these issues to the Aquatics Director, Meredith Locasto at 609-944-7537 or Aquatics@peddie.org. You can also email the Lesson Coordinator, Corina Simms at swimlessons@peddie.org.
REFUND POLICY/OPEN LESSON FOR MISSED CLASSES
The Peddie Swim School does NOT OFFER REFUNDS OR CREDITS for classes once you have fully registered.
There are NO REFUNDS OR MAKE-UPS for cancellations that are out of our control, such as snow, ice, thunder, etc. Please familiarize yourself with our thunderstorm procedures. We will offer an OPEN LESSON at the end of every session for missed classes. An OPEN LESSON is a time when you can bring your swimmer in to get help and assistance from instructors who will be on deck to guide you and your child. IT IS NOT A FORMAL LESSON. All Level 1 and Level 2 students must have a parent in the pool with them. OPEN LESSONS will be announced before each session concludes.
- If we must move your child down to a lower level once the session begins, you will be charged a $25 change fee to your credit card on file. To avoid this fee, attend an open evaluation day before registering and read the Class Descriptions carefully, and/or current families should follow the steps outlined in the Curriculum Tracking when registering. If there is no room to move your child down NO REFUNDS will be given, please do not register your child for a level they are not prepared for.
- There are NO MAKE-UPS, NO REFUNDS, and NO CREDITS for missed classes for any reason (illness, injury, vacation, etc.) Our staff is paid to be here, even if your child is not here.
- If your swimmer is registered for a class that does not fill, Peddie Swim School reserves the right to cancel that class. We will make every effort to find a different day and time for your swimmer to have a lesson at the appropriate level. If we cannot find an opening on a different day/time we will provide a full refund.
- In the event that the Peddie Aquatic center must cancel your lesson for a reason within our control (staffing, school-wide events, etc.) we will make every effort to make up the class or provide a credit toward your next session. Credits are good for year from the date that the credit was issued.
PRIVATE COACHING CANCELLATIONS
All private coaching session dates and times are set between the family and instructor. In the event you need to cancel a session, you must notify the coach and the lesson coordinator (swimlessons@peddie.org) in writing at least 24 hours prior to your session. Any cancellations not received at least 24 hours prior will result in your account being charged for that session and no makeup will be provided.
